January 2013 newsletter

Registrations for 2013
The registrations are up and ready to go. As an incentive to register early this year – on or before April 1st – we are offering $100.00 worth of magic stuff which you will receive up at camp if you are registered in full.

Open House 2013
Our Open House once again will be hosted by Jeff Pinsky at The Browser’s Den, located at 3220 Dufferin Street, Unit 19A. Thanks, Jeff! We are holding it on April 14th, 2013. We will have more info closer to the time. But make sure to mark down the date. You won’t want to miss this one.

Magifest 2013
Mike and I just got home from a wonderful last few days at Magifest 2013 in Ohio. What a great time. Lots of Sorcerers Safari campers and staff were there among the 600 attendees. I would like to start by thanking the wonderful group that put this great convention together.

When Joshua Jay and Andi Gladwin heard that Magifest was to be discontinued last year, they decided that just couldn’t be, so they stepped up and Magifest 2013 was reborn. With the help of our very own Steven Kline as Production Manager and Steven Branham, the amazing Dealer Contact/Badge Checker/Bouncer the convention took off.

It was great seeing Jep Hostetler relaxing and enjoying the convention. Always nice to see you Jep!

We saw so many Sorcerers staff, guests and campers there: Dick Joiner, Stephanie Kline, Sean Bogunia, Rosemary Reid, Brad Allen, Ben Train, Chris Westfall, Mahdi Gilbert, Aaron Delong, Eric Jones, David McCreary, Nathan Hickey, Jack Grady, Bill Cook and Bill Boaz.

Three Sorcerers Safari scholarships were given away this weekend. The Dr. Jeffrey Jay Memorial Scholarship from Joshua Jay was given to a 10 year old from Ohio. We had two wonderful last minute surprise scholarships. One was from Sean and Rebecca Bogunia. They found an awesome young magician that they wanted to get behind and support. Sean thought sending him to Sorcerers Safari would be the best thing for him.

He couldn’t have been happier. Mike and I had the pleasure of making a new friend at the convention. I will just call him Doug. He wants to stay behind the scenes and not have his name mentioned, but he also gave a scholarship to another very deserving young man.

So I would say that Sorcerers is off to an awesome start this 2013. I will be sending out another newsletter soon. We have lots of new and exciting things coming up to mention. Stay tuned!
